Ten minutes, same order, every night — the point of a routine is that it happens even when you're tired, cold, and just want dinner. Here's a nightly version that covers all the layers:
Minute 1-2: Park deliberately — nose-out for your own quick exit, in camera or window view, under light. Steering lock on.
Minute 3-4: Disc lock on the front rotor, reminder cable to the grip so you never launch with it on.
Minute 5-7: Chain through the frame to the ground anchor (home) or something immovable (anywhere else). Keep the chain off the ground so it's harder to attack.
Minute 8: Cover on. An anonymous lump is boring; a visible badge is advertising.
Minute 9: Arm the electronics — alarm set, tracker app open, motion alerts on. Glance that the bike is reporting its location.
Minute 10: Pocket check — both keys accounted for, nothing valuable left in the bags.
Do it in the same order for two weeks and it stops being a chore — it's just how the bike goes to sleep. The lock work handles the opportunist; the motion alert and live location handle the rare pro who gets past it. That's the whole game in ten minutes.
