How do I relieve pressure on my tailbone while sitting?

Getting weight off your tailbone comes down to two strategies: redirect the load, or spread it so thin it stops hurting. Here's what actually works, roughly in order of how fast you'll feel it:
Tilt forward onto your sit bones. A slight forward pelvic roll — think “sit tall, chest proud” — lifts the coccyx out of contact immediately. This is the instant-relief move; the catch is that your posture muscles can only hold it so long.
Send weight through your thighs. Feet planted, knees slightly below hips — your thighs become load-bearing surface and your tailbone's share drops.
Take pressure holidays. Lean forward, shift to one hip, or stand for 30 seconds every 20–30 minutes. Compressed tissue recovers quickly when you give it the chance.
Change what you're sitting on. This is the fix that works when you can't keep adjusting — on a motorcycle, in a truck, on a long drive. Cushions with a coccyx cutout simply remove the surface under the tailbone; air-cell cushions go a step further by distributing your entire weight across dozens of interconnected cells, so no single point — tailbone or sit bones — carries a concentrated load. Riders tend to prefer the air-cell approach because it also absorbs the bumps that make tailbone pain spike.
Stack all four and hours in the saddle — or any seat — stop being a countdown.
