Stolen motorcycles often surface online, either whole or in pieces, so a disciplined search routine genuinely improves your odds. Start with the big resale platforms and check them daily for the first few weeks:
- Facebook Marketplace and local buy/sell groups — search your make, model, and color within a wide radius.
- Craigslist and OfferUp — include nearby cities, since thieves often sell a town or two away.
- eBay Motors — check both complete bikes and parts listings; a stripped bike shows up as fairings, wheels, and engines.
Beyond marketplaces, post your bike's photos, VIN, and distinctive details (scratches, stickers, aftermarket parts) in regional riding groups and forums. Riders share stolen-bike alerts constantly, and an extra few thousand eyes helps. Set up saved searches and alerts wherever the platform allows so new listings hit your inbox automatically.
If you find a listing that looks like your bike, don't message the seller or arrange a meet. Screenshot everything, save the URL, and call the police with your case number. An angry message just makes the listing disappear — along with your bike.
