There's no universal number — but for most riders, comprehensive coverage (the part that includes theft) is one of the cheaper components of a full motorcycle policy. Depending on your bike and situation, it can range from a modest add-on of well under a hundred dollars a year to several hundred for high-value or high-theft machines. The only way to know your real number is to get quotes.
What moves the price:
Bike value and model: expensive bikes and frequently stolen models cost more to insure against theft.
Where you live and park: urban ZIP codes with high theft rates raise premiums; a locked garage lowers them.
Deductible: raising it from a low amount to $500 or $1,000 can cut the comprehensive portion noticeably.
Anti-theft devices: many insurers offer discounts for alarms, immobilizers, or GPS trackers — ask yours what qualifies.
Your record and riding history.
Practical move: get two or three quotes with and without comprehensive so you can see the exact difference, then ask each insurer which security devices earn a discount. Sometimes the discount covers a chunk of the device's cost.
