It sits slightly on top of the fabric, feels like a thin layer under your thumb, and survives 50 plus washes if you treat it right. Direct-to-garment sprays ink into the fibers like an inkjet printer. It handles photo-real artwork and unlimited colors, and it feels like nothing at all. The trade is durability: DTG on a dark shirt needs a white underbase and tends to fade sooner than screen print.

5 Mistakes That Ruin a Biker Tee
- Buying by picture alone. The artwork looks the same at 4.2 oz and 6 oz. The shirt does not. If a listing will not tell you the fabric weight or the cotton type, that is usually because the answer is the cheap one.
- Hot wash and hot dryer. Heat is what cracks plastisol and shrinks cotton. Cold wash, inside out, and either hang dry or tumble on low. That one habit is the difference between two seasons and five.
- Ironing the graphic. A hot iron directly on a screen print will melt and gloss the ink permanently. If you must press, flip the shirt inside out and press the back of the graphic.
- Treating a tee as protective gear. Cotton gives you effectively zero abrasion resistance in a slide. A tee is a base layer. The protection comes from what goes over it, whether that is a leather vest, an armored jacket, or a proper riding shirt.

Four steps, and they take no extra time:
- Turn the shirt inside out before it goes in the machine. The print then rubs against the shirt body instead of a zipper.

- Skip fabric softener on printed shirts. It leaves a coating that lifts the edges of the ink over time.
